The Third Annual Washington DC Industrial Organization Conference was held on April 29, 2016 in Washington, DC. It was sponsored by the Maryland Center for Economics and Policy, and was financially supported by Compass Lexecon, a leading economic consultancy with a major presence in DC. The conference brought together around one hundred policy makers, economists from government agencies and academics from universities in DC, Maryland and Virginia to present and discuss research, with a focus on topics relevant for antitrust and regulation. The lunchtime keynote address was given by Steve Berry of Yale University on the economic analysis of the AT&T / DirectTV merger. Sessions addressed topics including the economics and econometrics of protecting anonymity in big datasets, dual agency issues in the real estate industry and competition in mortgage markets.
