The Maryland Center for Economics and Policy recently co-hosted the Research on Efffective Government: Inspection and Compliance Workshop. The workshop, co-sponsored with the Harvard Business School, had over one hundred attendees from academia and government. It featured discussion of recent research on inspection and compliance, the challenges facing regulators today, and ways to better facilitate collaboration between regulators and researchers. The workshop agenda and presentation slides may be found on the workshop's archived event page. The workshop also included the launch of the University of Maryland Inspection and Compliance Research Archive. MCEP is currently building this archive, which is planned to become a comprehensive database of research pertinent to inspection and compliance, encompassing research in disparate areas ranging from environmental regulations to workplace safety law.
